National Missile Defense: more taxpayer money wasted

Yoss has an interesting diary at DailyKos regarding the GAO report on how the Bush administration has run the (unworkable) missile defense program ineptly, i.e. over $43 billion dollars of taxpayer money wasted, and tens of billions more soon to be wasted.

This is a vast amount of money, at least compared to what the space sciences have to play with. Science and scientists are feeling the pinch because approx $1 billion of NASA's yearly budget has been transferred from science to some idiots moon/mars program, and yet its OK to waste orders of magnitude more money on something that we know can't work? Argh!!!
